New Openings & Recent Reviews

BrewDog Replaced, Brother Thai Arrives & Top Notch Chippy

Independent Takeover On Baldwin Street: The old BrewDog spot on Baldwin Street has just reopened under completely new, independent ownership. Independent bar group Saviour Bars has stepped in, attempting to distance the venue from its controversial former custodians. Founder Rhys Oldfield promises a deliberate focus on quality drinks, genuine hospitality and site-specific character. It's always great to see independent operators breathing fresh life into prime spots like this.

Stokes Croft Gets Brother Thai: Keep your eyes peeled next time you’re wandering down Stokes Croft, because Brother Thai is officially opening its doors this Thursday, April 9th. The new black and yellow sign is up on the building and they’re almost ready to go. Get ready for some serious flavour to hit the neighbourhood.

High Praise For Noah's Haddock: If you’re down by the water and fancy a proper fish and chips, Noah's is the place to be. They've just scored a glowing review in Millennial Magazine from The Freedom Traveler, who loved their no-nonsense approach to the classic Cornish haddock and chips. Instead of trying to reinvent the wheel, they just do it perfectly with a light, non-greasy batter and proper homemade chips. Throw in some beautifully sourced oysters and scallops, plus top-tier service from Aimie and the team, and you've got a brilliant harbourside meal.

BakeALicious Opens On Wine Street: We mentioned previously that our local favourite BakeALicious was opening a new spot, but the location was kept under wraps. Well, the secret is out! They have officially opened their newest branch right on Wine Street. The traditional Greek coffee and bakery is now open every day, serving up their fresh coffee, sweet baklava, and delicious pies. It looks like a proper lush spot to grab a table outside, so pop down and treat yourself to a slice of something nice.

Local Highlight

Little Loaf, Redland

If you've been anywhere near the corner of Redland Road and Coldharbour Road lately, you'll know that the old Elworthy building has had an absolute glow up. The legends behind the award-winning Bristol Loaf have brought their newest venue, Little Loaf, to the neighbourhood, and it's already a firm local favourite. They're serving up their famous organically certified sourdough, artisan cakes decorated with fresh fruit and flowers (no artificial fondant here!), and a rotating selection of Native Vine's biodynamic natural wines. You can pop in from 8am to 4pm Monday through Saturday, and 10am to 4pm on Sundays. Best of all, they're doing it sustainably. With an electric delivery fleet, ethically sourced ingredients, high-welfare meats, and a 90% UK food sourcing policy, you can stuff your face while being kind to the planet. I mean, they even have a combined 66 solar panels powering their Redfield and Bedminster sites!

Better still, the team has just launched their brand new "Loaf Loyalty" scheme, and it's well worth getting involved with. You'll bag 1 point for every £1 spent, which you can save up to claim gifts across any of their venues, including Beacon, Redfield, Bedminster, Redland, and Native Vine. If you head over to their website and sign up now, they'll even throw in a cheeky little surprise gift just to say cheers!

That’s it for this week.
