Authentic Uyghur Flavours, The Times Praise & A Million Pound Refurb
Handmade Noodles Hit Bristol: Massive news for noodle lovers as Gulnar Noodles has officially landed in the city, bringing authentic Uyghur flavours to Bristol for the very first time. After successful stints in Birmingham and London, they've set up shop at 13 Perry Rd (BS1 5BG), serving up freshly made hand-pulled noodles packed with bold spices and comforting dishes. It's a proper exciting addition to the local food scene, so make sure to get down there and welcome them to the family.
National Praise For Local Favourites: Our incredible food scene has caught the eye of the national press yet again. Writing for The Times, Nick Redman featured Bristol as the UK's coolest city for a weekend break, giving huge shout-outs to a bunch of our absolute finest independent spots. Massive congratulations to Lido, Little French, The Bank Tavern, Noah’s, COR, Clouds and Milk Thistle for keeping things ship-shape and representing the city so brilliantly.
Sandwi Team Launches New Cafe: The brilliant team behind Sandwi has just kicked off a soft opening for their gorgeous new lounge space, The Refectory by Sandwi. They opened the doors on May 27 for a week-long trial run, inviting everyone down to experience what they've been building. Located at 49 Martingale Way in Portishead (BS20 7SG), it's the perfect new spot to slow down, sip on top-tier coffee, and stay a little longer than you planned.
Legendary Nightlife Site Reborn: A massive £1 million refurbishment is officially underway at 19-21 St Nicholas Street, the iconic former home of Revolution. The team at NEOS Hospitality has announced that Bonnie Rogues will be taking over the historic site, opening its doors on June 26. Moving away from the old 'Vodka Revs' vibe, they're bringing a 'live and loud' party pub concept to the city, complete with a daily schedule of live music, sports, food, and late-night parties.

Plant-Based Speed Dating, Indie Wine Festivals & Summer BBQs
Plant-based speed dating and friending (12th June): Head over to Vegan India on Gloucester Road for a relaxed social night run by Ve Social. Tailored for folks in their 20s and 30s, it blends speed dating with speed friending if you fancy meeting some new faces. It kicks off with human bingo to break the ice, and they have got a matchmaking compatibility quiz to shape your evening. It is totally LGBTQ+ friendly, and while the vegan food is not included in the ticket, you can come down early to grab a bite.
Seasonal bites in the garden (14th June): Two of South Bristol's finest independent gems, COR Restaurant and Hilda Bakery, are teaming up for a seriously tasty collaboration. It is all happening at COR in Bedminster as part of the neighbourhood's Festival of Gardening. They will be serving up gorgeous seasonal snacks inspired by what you can grow at home, including an elderflower and strawberry croissant tart and COR-to-go boxes packed with seasonal salads and savoury canalés. Swing by from 9:30am until they sell out, because they absolutely will.
An indie English wine intervention (20th June): Bristol becomes the epicentre of the homegrown wine scene as the IEWA English Wine Fair takes over Averys Wine Merchants. 15 medal-winning independent vineyards are setting up shop from 4pm to 6:30pm to pour 60 of their absolute best bottles. We are talking world-class fizz, crisp whites, juicy rosés, and eye-opening orange wines. There are zero PR reps in sight; you will be tasting and chatting directly with the winemakers themselves.
Tapas and tasting social circle (27th June): If you fancy a relaxed evening with good company and great bottles, Pop Up Wine is hosting the Bristol Wine Social at One B Coffee House on Gloucester Road. Running from 7:15pm to 9:30pm, your ticket gets you four handpicked wines paired beautifully with four delicious tapas dishes. It is a proper friendly, guided tasting with their sommelier, making it perfect whether you are heading down with mates or rocking up solo.
Burgers and beats in Southville (27th June): The team at Burra on North Street are throwing their first ever Burra BBQ Bash. From 6pm to 10pm, they are firing up the grill for a laid-back evening of community vibes, beers in the sun, and DJs spinning tunes. A £20 ticket gets you entry, a burger from their special summer BBQ menu, and a cold drink to wash it down. It is the ultimate way to spend a sunny Saturday evening hanging out with good people.
City-wide sustainable seafood festival (8th July - 12th July): Get this one locked firmly in your diaries because Bristol Seafood Week is making a massive return. This city-wide celebration is teaming up with a fantastic lineup of top independent spots, including Box-E, Caper and Cure, Noah's, and Sonny Stores. Expect collaborative banquets, exclusive dishes, and special week-long menus across town to champion the best of sustainable British catches. Keep your eyes peeled as more details drop.

Local Highlight
An update on the local highlights section
Since we started this newsletter, we’ve brought you a fresh local highlight every single week. We absolutely love shouting about the best bits of the Bristol food scene, but we’ve always had one golden rule: our team has to personally vouch for every single spot we recommend. If we haven't eaten there, loved it, and rolled out the door full to the brim, it doesn't make the cut.
To keep that promise and ensure we’re only ever giving you genuine, top-tier recommendations, we’re shifting things up a bit. Moving forward, this section is becoming our dedicated discovery space. When we find a new gem - whether it's a tucked-away indie spot in Bedminster or a killer new pop-up in St Pauls - we'll feature it right here as a classic local highlight. If we haven't found anywhere new that blows us away that week, we won't just fill the space for the sake of it.
Don't worry though, you'll never be short of inspiration. Every single spot we’ve previously featured is logged over on our food map, which is packed with all our past local highlights and local favourites. It's always online and ready for when you're hunting down your next dinner plans.
