Mexican Street Food, Microdistillery Residency & Exciting New Brunch
Airstream Tacos In St Werburghs: Tomacco Taco has set up a permanent residency in a bright yellow airstream at The Barrel Store, Wiper and True's taproom in St Werburghs. Run by the father-and-son duo behind Popti Bros, they've brought some proper bold Mexican and Baja Californian flavours to the area. Expect handmade corn tortillas, slow-cooked meats, and vibrant salsas that pair perfectly with a pint. It's a banging addition to the neighbourhood alongside spots like Namak and Fisk & Frite.
Sonny Stores At Psychopomp: The lovely team at Sonny Stores opened the doors to their new residency at Psychopomp Microdistillery on St Michael's Hill last week. They've built a menu specifically designed to match the epic cocktails on offer. It's walk-ins only, running Thursday and Friday from 5pm to 10pm, and Saturdays from 6pm to 10pm. Best get down early to grab a spot.
Swoon Gelato's Top Bristol Spots: To celebrate 10 years at their iconic College Green location, Josh from Swoon Gelato has shared his absolute top food and drink recommendations. His hit list includes The Bristol Loaf, The Lock Up in Redfield, Bosco Pizzeria, Bambalan and Bar 44 over in Clifton Village. It's a solid list for your next foodie crawl around town!
Protein-Packed Brunch In Clifton: The Cow & Sow in Clifton is launching a banging new brunch menu on Saturday, May 2nd. If you're a meat lover, this one is absolutely for you. The early reviews from their private launch are raving about the "cow and egg", which features a 35-day aged flat iron steak served pink, alongside a buttered fried egg, chimichurri avocado, and a sweet potato hash brown. They’re also dishing up sweet brioche French toast and classic avocado on sourdough with a chimichurri twist. It’s shaping up to be a top weekend spot for a proper feed and a morning cocktail.

Izakaya

Bristol's food scene is always delivering, and if you're craving an authentic Japanese experience, you've got a real treat waiting for you. Izakaya has brought that relaxed, spirited atmosphere right to our doorstep, and they've cleverly split their offerings across two brilliant spots in the city. Whether you're after fresh sushi or a feast of grilled meats, they've got you covered for a great evening out.
Tucked away just off Whiteladies Road and a breezy 10-minute walk from the Downs, their Clifton branch is your go-to for super fresh sashimi, sushi, ramen, and traditional Japanese plates. It's a spacious but intimate setup, perfect for washing down quality food with some sake or Japanese cocktails. Just keep an eye on their opening times, as this spot is only open Thursday to Saturday.
Down in the centre at College Green, things are a bit different but equally exciting. Known as IZAKAYA x YAKINIKU, this location focuses on izakaya-style small plates alongside premium yakiniku, which means top-tier grilled meats. It's designed for sharing dishes and good times over a few drinks, making it a cracking choice for a weekend get-together. You can drop by Tuesday to Thursday from 4:30pm to 9pm, Friday and Saturday for an all-day stint from 11:30am to 10pm, and Sundays from 11:30am to 9:30pm.
