Pizza Jams, BBQ School & The New Rudy's on Baldwin Street

Your weekly guide to the best of Bristol's independent food scene.

Hope you all had a brilliant weekend. The Feast On festival was a fantastic showcase of what makes our food scene so special. It was great to see so many people out enjoying the incredible variety on offer, with the air filled with the scent of everything from wood-fired pizzas to sizzling international street food. The quality from our local producers and chefs was, as always, outstanding and a real credit to the city. With the festival now behind us, the excitement continues with another busy week of news and events. Here is your rundown.

New Openings & Recent Reviews

Rudy's Pizza Napoletana: It's opening day. Rudy's Pizza officially opens today, Monday, July 28th, in the old RBS building on Baldwin Street. This is their first restaurant in the South West, serving up their famous authentic Neapolitan pizza.

Don Restaurant: A new spot on Gloucester Road, Don Restaurant, has its grand opening tomorrow, Tuesday, July 29th. The menu promises a celebration of good taste, focusing on Italian dishes, risottos, and gourmet burgers.

Oowee Diner x ANNA Cake Couture: A match made in food heaven. Oowee has teamed up with the legends at ANNA Cake Couture to add their famously rich and chunky cookies to the menu. Two flavours are on offer: the decadent Triple Chocolate and the unique Cake Batter. Get them while you can.

Dinnema Club: Ratatouille Supper Club: Tuesday, September 30th. Dinnema Club is hosting a supper club celebrating the film Ratatouille at Bruhaha brewery on Wells Road. Expect an evening of classic French food with a creative twist.

Local Highlight: Caper and Cure

Tucked away on Stokes Croft's eclectic high street, The Promenade, Caper and Cure has quietly solidified itself as one of Bristol's most charming and consistently excellent neighbourhood restaurants. With a focus on modern British and European cooking, the team prides itself on sourcing high-quality, local ingredients and serving them without fuss, letting the flavours speak for themselves in a relaxed, intimate setting.

While their evening menu is always a treat, their set lunch is where you'll find some of the best value fine dining in the city. Recent praise has been heaped on their incredible dishes, with a whipped ricotta starter and a perfectly cooked Hereford beef onglet main being highlighted as standouts. It's the ideal spot for a special occasion or simply for when you want to treat yourself to a lunch that feels a cut above the rest. It's a true local gem that never disappoints.

As a very small team, we rely on word of mouth to grow. If you've enjoyed this week's newsletter, please consider forwarding it to a fellow foodie. Thanks for your support!
