New Spanish Tapas Spot in Clifton Village & Fishponds Cafe Under New Ownership
Clifton Village Welcomes Spanish Tapas: Acento has officially opened its doors in Clifton Village, bringing a proper taste of Spain to the neighbourhood. Inspired by traditional Spanish hospitality, they're serving up beautifully prepared regional tapas alongside a carefully curated wine list. It's the perfect new spot to gather with mates over excellent food that tells a story.
Fishponds Cafe Gets New Lease: The former Grounded site in Fishponds has quickly reopened under new ownership as Turners Fishponds. Former manager Ben Turner has taken the reins, keeping the same familiar front-of-house staff while slowly remodelling the space. They're planning a new live music stage, a fresh partnership with Meantime Brewery, and some exciting menu tweaks from their Italian head chef. It's a bit of good news amidst a sudden shock, as all other Grounded branches across Bristol appear to have abruptly shut down this week.

Bristol Seafood Week, Summer Garden Scran & Late Night Pizza Parties
Bristol Seafood Week Is Here (8th - 12th July): Bristol Seafood Week kicks off this Wednesday! It's the perfect excuse to support our top-tier local independent fishmongers and seafood spots. Get yourself over to https://www.bristolseafoodweek.co.uk/ to see what's on across the city.
Heaps of Pride Celebrations (July): There's absolutely loads happening all over town for Bristol Pride this month. Your favourite independent food and drink spots will likely be running special events, limited edition treats, or lively parties. Make sure to have a proper nosey around Instagram this week to see what your locals are cooking up. A couple we've spotted include:
Cotto Wine Club Returns (13th July): The fantastic Cotto wine club is back for a lovely summer session. For £50 a head, you'll sip on five beautiful wines paired with a selection of hot and cold antipasti. They're also running a quiz with some stellar prizes up for grabs, so get your thinking caps on. It's always a cracker of a night, so drop an email to [email protected] to bag your spot.
Late Night Pizza Party (17th July): If you usually miss out on their regular daytime slots, the team at local favourite Two Ways Cafe is staying open late from 5:30pm to 8:30pm to serve up their excellent 9-inch pizzas. They'll have all your usual favourites alongside a special Bianca pizza. Seating is tight so you'll need to book ahead; keep in mind this is their absolute last pizza night until September!
Serving Hosts Massive Summer Bash (19th July): The legendary queer-run non-profit supper club Serving is hosting a big summer party at Centrale by Bianchis in Easton. They're celebrating raising over £10,000 for gender-affirming care, and your ticket gets you a welcome drink from Bristol Beer Factory alongside a fresh tamale. More than half the tickets are already gone, so don't hang about.
Almighty Sunday Garden Scran (26th July): The Scrandit on Christmas Steps is bringing back Sunday Scran #7 with a proper "Pig in the Garden" theme. Chefs Laura Hicks and Emma Wakeley are teaming up to fire up the BBQ for a massive pig platter loaded with fresh bread, homemade condiments, local salads, and ferments for £25 a plate. It's all walk-ins from 12pm until the food is gone, so get down early and pray the Bristol weather behaves.
Windmill Hill City Farm Turns Fifty (12th Sept): Our beloved inner-city oasis is marking half a century of community work with a massive Anniversary Fayre from 11am to 4pm. Expect live music, folk craft workshops, and a big BBQ using the farm's own produce. Tickets are on a sliding scale on Headfirst to launch their Golden Harvest Appeal, which aims to raise £50,000 to keep the green space free for everyone.
