National Restaurant Awards, Sando Gull Opens At Wapping Wharf & A Secluded Woodland Cafe
Dongnae And Wilsons Soar Up Rankings: Chandos Road in Redland is thriving as always, with two of its local gems absolutely flying up the National Restaurant Awards top 100 list for 2026. The elevated Korean spot Dongnae jumped to an incredible 12th place, praised for its well priced set lunch and innovative dishes like grilled pork jowl. Meanwhile, neighbourhood favourite Wilsons climbed to 32nd place. Its hyper seasonal six course tasting menu relies entirely on what is harvested that week from its own two acre market garden in Barrow Gurney.
Sando Gull Opens At Wapping Wharf: A brand new deli style sandwich shop has landed in Cargo Two at Wapping Wharf. Run by hospitality duo Iris and Fran, the spot is inspired by traditional Italian delicatessens mixed with the founders' Spanish and Argentinian roots. Alongside homemade empanadas, they are serving up some seriously stacked sandos, including the Goat & Pepper Sando which is loaded with goat's cheese, balsamic glaze, and a proper Mediterranean roasted red pepper salad. It is a dream come true for the pair who have worked in the area for a decade.
The Victoria Reopens In Clifton: After closing its doors last year, this gorgeous Grade II listed pub on Southleigh Road by the Lido is getting a fresh lease of life. Local lad Finn Reeves is taking the helm and reopening the place on July 3. Finn, who used to work at The Bristol Fringe, wants to strip things back to basics with cracking draught and cask options, great drinks, and a cosy front room atmosphere. He is also looking for local groups to make use of the intimate private snug upstairs.
Market Table At The Granary: There is a lovely new morning ritual to get on your radar. The Granary has teamed up with Keisha from the Bristol Pastry Kitchen to launch Market Table. Serving from 8:30am every single morning, you can expect small batch pastries, cakes, and savouries packed with Middle Eastern and Persian influences. Keisha has refined her craft in some of London's top kitchens, so expect top tier artisan technique best enjoyed slowly with a proper coffee.
Embers Cafe Opens In Westbury: If you fancy a bit of nature with your morning brew, head over to the former Westbury Wildlife Park. The 13 acre woodland site has been transformed with yoga and a sauna, and now features a secluded new spot called Embers Cafe. They are open Friday to Sunday from 10am to 4pm, serving up top quality Extract coffee, ice cream, and plenty of cakes. The team claims to have the best cafe garden in Bristol, making it a proper day out to slow down.
