Marco Pierre White's Best Ever Burger: Marco Pierre White stopped by Milk Bun and called it "the best burger I've ever had in my life". The team's reply was a very Bristol "we'll take it". Milk Bun was started in 2021 by two brothers and is built on a secret signature bun recipe and grass fed aged beef, with buttermilk fried chicken and vegan options alongside. You'll find them at 25 The Mall in Clifton Village. The clip has already gone past 24,000 likes, so booking ahead is probably wise.

Sri Lankan Darts On Broad Quay: The Coconut Tree is opening a second Bristol site this month, taking over the old Fika Cafe on Broad Quay. It's the group's first opening since Praveen Thangiah and Shamil Fernando, two of the founding team, took control in 2025. Expect the same affordable Sri Lankan menu and the cocktails they call cocotails, plus outside dining for more than 50 people and three virtual darts lanes in the drinks area. Their Gloucester Road site becomes the sister, with the group first landing in Bristol back in 2018.

Who The Hell Is Shweef?: Stokes by the Orchard on Stokes Croft is now Shweef's, with a sharply dressed greyhound holding a drink on the new signage. Former manager Ethan Temple-Edwards has taken the venue on after their St George branch was forced to close. The full brunch menu stays, with toasties, salads, pastries and what they call cracking coffee. They announced the name on Instagram with that same greyhound and the words "Who the hell is Shweef?", then threw a launch party on 14th August.

Two Burger Specials For One Day (27th August): Thursday 27th August is National Burger Day, and two Bristol favourites are marking it with one day only specials. Oowee are running The Steak, Fries & Peppercorn Sauce Burger at their North Street site. They've teased another treat on the day too. Danny's bring back The Beef Chucky at Fierce & Noble, with a goodie bag for everyone who orders one.

Surf And Turf Over Coals (3rd Sept): The Spiny Lobster are running their first steak and lobster night on Thursday 3rd September. South coast native lobster is paired with grass fed beef, both roasted over coals in their josper oven and served with garlic butter, chips and house salad. It's £49 a head. Book by emailing [email protected] or calling 0117 973 7384. A good excuse if a date night is overdue, and a decent one if you just enjoy a Thursday.

Pasta Meets Soft Serve (5th Sept): Zero Zero Pasta Boys are teaming up with Soft Buoys on Saturday 5th September. The Pasta Boys will be slinging pasta out of the kiosk while James sorts the soft serve and the refreshments. It runs from 3pm until they sell out. Menus are still to be confirmed, so keep an eye on their Instagram, but the two of them on one site is worth turning up for either way.

Five Courses And A Quiz (8th Sept): One Fish Street on Chandos Road are running a quiz night with a five course set menu on Tuesday 8th September from 7pm. Each course is paired to a round, so once a dish lands you get a few questions inspired by it. They've pitched it as light hearted and food linked rather than intimidating, and there's a £50 prize voucher for the winners. Tickets are on their website.

James Hoffmann On Coffee's Future (12th Sept): James Hoffmann is speaking at Bristol Coffee Festival on Saturday 12th September at 3pm, in a talk called "Coffee's future is bleak but we're still excited: Let me explain". He'll get into climate change, labour shortages, market manipulation and whether supply can keep up with demand, and why the industry stays optimistic anyway. The festival runs all day at the Bristol Beacon on Trenchard Street, with a Green Coffee Village running cupping sessions from 10am to 3pm.

One Long Table Outside Cotto (13th Sept): Pazzo are putting on Cucina Povera outside Cotto and Pasta Ripiena on Sunday 13th September. Chefs Brendan, Jacob and Dylan have wanted to cook together for a while and this is the result: everyone on one table, outside, eating the sort of food Italian kitchens built out of very little. It starts at 1pm and it's £50 a head. Seats are limited, booking is by email to [email protected], and they can only cater for vegetarians on this one.

A Feast In The Watercress Barns (17th Sept): BANK and Lapin are cooking together at Belmont Estate on Thursday 17th September, 5:30pm to 8:30pm, as part of the Belmont Feasts series. It's a relaxed sharing style dinner around long tables in the watercress barns, built on seasonal produce, fire led cooking and French flavours. Expect fire cooked meats, estate grown vegetables and plenty to pass around. Tickets are through the link in BANK's bio.

Gigi's Pizza Lands At Root (20th Sept): Root at Cargo 1 on Gaol Ferry Steps are teaming up with Gigi's Pizza Shop from Old Market for the Big Red Sauce Lunch. Bookings are live already and spaces are limited, with the link in Root's Instagram bio. Two very different Bristol favourites in one room, so this is one to move quickly on.
