Grace Dent’s Fav Bristol Chippy, Smoked Brisket & Cafe Launches

Grace Dent's Ultimate Chippy Praise: Legendary restaurant critic Grace Dent has just named Cumberland Basin’s very own Noah’s as one of the absolute nicest restaurants she has come across in years. Tucked right under the flyover, this family-run gem was the only Bristol spot to make her exclusive five-restaurant hit list. She raved about the fancy 1980s wine bar vibe, turquoise banquettes, and hand-dived Orkney scallops. It comes just weeks after they scooped runner-up for Restaurant of the Year at the National Fish and Chip Awards 2026, so you know it's the real deal.

Fire Pit Opens In Montpelier: The legendary team behind Totterdown’s Smokebox has just dropped a brilliant new sister site on the Picton Street intersection. Fire Pit is serving up weekly rotating menus featuring incredible smoked brisket flatbreads for £15 (or two for £25) alongside pints from local Bristol breweries for £6. It's got a lovely fairy-lit outdoor seating area designed to feel like you're sitting around a campfire with family.

Sellanraa Book Cafe Launch: Redland’s Chandos Road has a gorgeous new addition in Sellanraa, a cosy bookshop-cafe hybrid that opened its doors on Saturday, June 20th. Owner Jackson Jeff spent seven intense weeks transforming an old stained glass workshop into a cream-and-brown haven complete with rattan lamps. Expect brilliant coffees, cortados, and a massive focus on gluten-free lunches sorted by coeliac catering experts Gluno. Even better, you can browse brilliant novels in the back room supplied by Clifton's independent Heron Books.

The Volly Cafe Hits St Jude's: The famous little orange Renault Estafette van, formerly known as Little Taquero, has been resurrected by owners Joe and Nicky. It's now parked up as The Volly Cafe on St Matthias Park, right outside the garden entrance of the Volunteer Tavern. They're pouring great coffee from Bristol Twenty and Joe is back behind the grill serving up seriously delicious breakfast bites and cheese toasties to start your morning right.
