Bristol Food Newsletter - New Tapas, Food Fests, and a Market Highlight!

Your weekly guide to the best of Bristol's independent food scene.

Another week in Bristol, another host of delicious things to talk about. From brand new openings to look forward to, to a jam-packed schedule of summer food events, there's plenty to get your teeth into. Plus, we're shining a light on one of the city's best weekly markets.

New Openings

  • Alembic: A new "world tapas" restaurant is set to open its doors in the departure lounge of Bristol Airport on Thursday, 3rd July. An interesting addition for those jetting off on their summer holidays, they promise light bites and a focus on local suppliers.

  • Hideaway Cafe/Bar: A brilliant bit of news from Shirehampton Road, the much-loved Hideaway has finally reopened its doors. It's been a while, but they're back serving the community with what looks to be a welcoming cafe and bar space. A great local spot to support.

Food Events

  • Slice of Summer: This Saturday, 5th July, the LHG Taproom is hosting an afternoon dedicated to all things pizza. Bristol's finest pizza slingers will be there, serving up a variety of styles – from New York to Detroit – all paired with fresh beer.

  • Burra x Pazzo x Corks: For one night only, this Friday, 4th July, three of Bristol's favourites are coming together for a special dining experience at Burra in Redland. Expect a seasonal menu that combines Japanese precision with Italian craft, all paired with carefully selected wines. Booking is essential and likely to sell out fast.

  • Feast On Festival: Get your tickets now for the Feast On festival, taking place on The Downs from Thursday, 24th to Sunday, 27th July. This celebration of Bristol's independent food scene will feature a huge lineup of local restaurants and producers, including Bianchis, Pasture, and Koocha. Expect live music, cooking demos, and, of course, a whole lot of fantastic food.

Local Highlight: Whiteladies Market

Every Saturday morning, the top of Whiteladies Road comes alive with the bustling Whiteladies Market. A firm favourite with locals, it's the perfect place to stock up on some of the best produce the South West has to offer. The market has a strong focus on sustainability and supporting local, independent traders, which is something we can all get behind.

You'll find a fantastic array of stalls, with everything you need for a delicious weekend. Pick up your organic fruit and veg from the likes of Leigh Court Farm, whose seasonal produce is always a highlight. For your weekend loaf, you can't go wrong with a sourdough or a croissant from the fantastic Farro Bakery. There's also a great selection of local cheeses, fresh fish, and quality meat. It's not just about the weekly shop though; there are always delicious street food stalls if you're feeling peckish. It's a proper community hub and a great way to start your weekend.
